Dealing with this perfectionism requires you to follow these strategies to mitigate the negative effect its having in your life.

  • Challenge your behaviour:

If you think you have problem with constantly improving your work, education then start by challenging your behaviour and beliefs. List some of the things that you do that must be perfect. write down why those activities have to be perfect. Now think from third person's perspective how you might overcome this behaviours and belief.

  • Reality check:

Question yourself:

# what will happen if i don't perfect the work?

# what will happen if don't take another diploma?

# what will change?

# what worst can happen if i don't do another Diploma?

# How it will affect my life and work?

# Will this matter 5 months? 5 weeks? 5 years from now. If answer is no then you are wasting your time trying to improvise till perfectionism.

  • Set a goal:

write down in journal what is your life's goal and career goal. let it be a very realistic goal. See have you achieved it then stop and breathe. take sometime out for yourself.

  • List your accomplishments everyday, week, month:

Every evening write down atleast one thing you accomplished that day no matter how mundane it is. in this process you will realise how much you do. Don't assess how perfect of a job you did but just focus on what you got done.

  • List what you are giving up in your quest for perfection:

Striving to be perfect in all things takes up lot of time- time that could be used for many other things. So take few minutes to write down what you are missing out on because you spend so much time trying to be perfect.

>>> Are you giving up time with your family or friends?

>>> have you stopped doing a hobby you really like or never started doing?

>>> have you lost a promising relationship?

>>> Are you missing out on adequate sleep, exercise, meal times or me time?

Ponder over this and consider your priorities and determine whether trying to be perfect is worth what you are losing.

  • Start saying positive things to yourself:

Look in the mirror and daily say 5 positive things about yourself. later ask close friends and relatives to say something positive about you. Write negative things about yourself and see how rationale they are. Challenge those negative thoughts and try changing them into positivity.

Somehow I think the race for diplomas is a race for something else. It's about getting a better job or a better paying job. Maybe it can be accomplished in other ways.

I think you can really torture yourself with non-stop education. There's no limit to it! But it's you who sets the limit. In answering the question of why...

I've experienced this when I traveled.... When you realize that you are far from home, homesickness comes. And the new place has to become home... Otherwise, you can't. Make acquaintances, friends, it'll get easier.

Listen, does anyone really need these "papers" about education? Well, you know a lot and can do a lot...do you really need someone's recognition to be happy? Is that what happiness is all about?

What a twist! so much to study and still little education! I'm sorry!! It's not just learning!! It is necessary to make an effort!! He can focus his attention not on the diplomas themselves, but on other, related achievements....
