Gave words to him, but now realised I was wrong

I am in a relationship where my man is not ready to understand the point I'm taking. He's from a so called typical Indian family where you can't even wear suit in house, all you can wear is saree for the whole life. Ecceptions are you can wear other dresses oy when you're out of the state/town. We're in a relationship then broke up. But again patched up due to the circumstances of unable to fall for others, all we want is each other. A few months ago, in a rush, when we're having deep convo, i said him I'm ready to accept every situation but let's get marry. Rn, I'm stuck in a situation where i have no shame of not standing at my words. I want him to understand that in this modern generation, i have rights to foght for the things i really deserve. Indian bahus are wearing short dresses nowadays, but what I'm fighting for is suit. Not even jeans, its suit that i cnt wear at home. He said 'this is not his family's culture.all you can wear is saree, even jadeja's wife wear saree then why don't you?' How can i make him feel what I'm going through? What is the reality behind not standing at my words? Why he should make his parents ready to accept their bahu (daughter in law) in suit. instead of pushing me into these scary thoughts, i think they should understand the actual reality and the basic rights I deserve.
