I understand the situation you are in but you also need to understand that every time you are going to find fault in the system, environment you will only be surrounded with more negativity which will make it more taxing for you to survive. This will also make you feel powerless and a victim always. Now you need to decide whether you want to take the power in your hands and change something or continue to talk about this through out your life.

Your life reins are in your hand. you need to decide what you want to do for yourself. You need to make that time for yourself if you feel this is affecting your mental well being. Make time and see how well you can contribute to the betterment of the society. Self pity and negative mindset will pull you down. There are many real life examples of people how they have changed the reality. Read about those people to understand how they did it. There are many who are struggling with their purpose of life but at least you know your purpose of life that gives you enough motivation to work harder for it and give yourself a deadline to achieve it.

As you say problems don't go away when you sweep them under the rug. See how you can address the problem. This will make you work on your emotional feelings. only if you will be able to handle the problem in hand then only you can deal with your depression.

I’m totally with you on this. I like my life, but I’m pissed at humanity and the way our hierarchy works. Sometimes I dream that aliens will conquer us and make this world a merrier place. I wouldn’t be able to function if not for my meds. For some, it’s alcohol or drugs, for me it’s pills that make me carefree.

You’re right. I feel the same, except my job is more satisfying. Occasionally I ask myself: what for? There are many other people who think like us, yet until we unite, nothing will change.

Also, why don’t you take another vacation? Don’t get me wrong, but you sound like you need it. Best wishes!

What are the things you want to be doing but have no time for? Are there reasons (financial or personal) why you can’t leave your current job for a healthier one? I somehow feel the answers to these two questions are the answers to your depression and unhappiness.

I feel your pain. You might be thinking life was better before capitalism. Many older people think that way. But let me tell you that statistics show otherwise. We think there was less crime because our grandparents are telling us that, but in many parts of the world there was much more crime than today when our children walk the streets alone. During the pandemic, we thought it was the worst thing that had happened to humanity, only because we’re so used to the modern advantages of life that we stopped noticing them. And we don’t personally remember anything about the plagues of the past. Subjectively, you think it all gets worse. But if you try to change the angle, you might see the light at the end of this tunnel. We’re sort of trying to make things better.

@low_bite_374 I’ve been swallowing antidepressants for years. It’s humiliating. They don’t seem to work as well as they used to. I don’t even want aliens to make things right, I’m sure they’ll create another Matrix :)

@Tommy J. Thanks! It’s frowned upon to take a vacation right after the holidays. It’s the most stressful time. Though… how am I fooling! It’s always stressful. And vacation won’t help. I’ll be back to square one as soon as it ends, and have to get up and face the same reality again. I’ve seen many therapists, it doesn’t help. I shouldn’t be fixing my brain. It’s the world that needs fixing

@Nakashima Hey, I want to be my own boss. I want to have a sustainable, eco-friendly, humanity-friendly business. I’m trying to work on something with a friend of mine, but there’s simply not enough time. I need the 8th day of the week. As for my current job, I can quit, but what shall I do? My wife works as a freelancer, and I don’t want to deprive her of the comforts she's used to.

@Lucas Guillemette Please don’t give me that nonsense! Statistics lie all the time, depending on the agenda. Yes, I enjoy modern comforts, but I also have to pay for them, and I believe the price is too high

@Angry I see. Well, whatever it is you’re doing with your friend, keep at it! Who knows, perhaps one day it’ll grow into a business of your own. It seems now that you can’t quit your job, but five years from nowб it may very well be possible. I wish you luck!

@Nakashima Thank you, appreciated! Yeah, that what keeps me going, I guess. I hope that if I'm able to create a job for myself that is more fulfilling and useful to the world, that might help me overcome my depression and GAD. I'm so tired of meds.
