does trauma ever go away?

my step-mother was a manipulative abuser, and my dad was just a moron to have married her. my memories are still fresh. living with two nasty little pigs who were not my brothers. a father who didn’t say a word against his narcissistic, neglecting wife. up to this day, he’s in complete denial that he has ruined our family. i can’t forgive any of them. my father sends me texts and asks to come visit all the time. i bet it was an eye-opener for him that once he became old and poor, his little wifey turned into a monster she had always been. i’m not gloating. i’m satisfied enough to know that both her sons suffer from mental illnesses…

i don’t know what to talk about with any of them. i don’t even know how a father and son talk properly at our age. everyone says that time heals and all that. i feel like i’m permanently damaged. don’t think i’ll ever be a normal “family person”. some things just can’t be fixed.
