I feel for you, man, job searching sucks out all life. Don’t give up. We’ve all been there. When you finally find something, it’ll be life-changing. In the meantime, find something to hold onto. The idea to end your life should never reach your mind. You’re stuck in a dark place now, and there’s a lot of negativity. You can use it as a driving force. I once found a job out of anger, just to prove to everyone around I could do it. You’ll get your interview and your job soon, it can be any day now. Don’t lose hope and find ways to de-stress other than strong drinks – they won’t help you during an interview.
Quite right. You’ll be dead for the rest of eternity, so why not spend some decades living, for a change? You can handle this, it’s just a moment of hopelessness. Everyone is doing not so well, trust me, we’re facing low times and bad economy. I swear I know how heartbreaking this process can be. I’m unemployed myself, can’t even get an internship. My advice is to spend only one or two days applying, then check your email once a day. Spend the rest of the week preparing for the job (upgrading your skills). I wish both of us luck.
OK, first of all, go outside. Take a walk, feel the sunshine or the cold, depending on where you are. Sitting imprisoned in four walls will drive anyone crazy. It’s bad for your mental health. Second, open a notepad or get a pen and paper and write down what you would do if you were rich and prosperous, with an amazing skill set. Get yourself a goal or a bunch of goals. Envision your future the way you want it to be. Even if it seems you don’t have those things that kept you going, remember that you had them once, and so you can find them again. Give yourself time, don't push it, but don't stop living.
Have you tried contacting a hiring agency? I don’t know what field you’re in, but if it’s anything digital, don’t rely on LinkedIn only. Find emails of recruiters and contact them directly. Fingers crossed that you’ll get good news soon!
Hey, you’ve made it so far, why stop now? I get it, you’re in survival mode. It’s terrible. Maybe you can read some other stories here and see that many of us are going through hard times, it’s just that some of us can hide it better. You can’t quit drinking alcohol because it’s your main source of dopamine now (happiness hormone). Your body needs it so much and it goes for easy sources. You’ll need to find other ways of releasing that dopamine that may be as simple as avoiding junk food, going out for a walk or doing very light exercises, practicing healthy sleep habits and doing something you enjoy, like listening to music or eating tasty food. Medication can also help you stop that negative train of thought, it requires one short visit to a mental health professional for a prescription. I want you to know that I want you to stay alive, I’ll miss you, though I’m a total random stranger. Keep trying, and come here in times of need. You’ve got this!
Don’t squander your life away. What you’re experiencing right now is just some wrong chemicals in your brain. If you feel so bad, the only further way is up. It can’t get worse. You need to keep moving forward, even if it’s two steps forward one step back at first. Rome wasn’t built in a day. I believe you are strong enough to change your life. I’m rooting for you, and the fact that you wrote this post and are looking for help makes me think that you can do it. Just hold on until the cloud passes
Relatable. my only escape is dreaming, sleeping. I also find that some sort of rigid, continuous schedule makes me think clearer. I used to be up at night and slept during the day, it only aggravated my depression. Now I rise early and have some daily rituals: making fresh juice, playing with the cat, doing the chores. small things really...
It’s good that you’ve shared this. I hope you feel a tiny bit better now? Let’s talk more about it. Perhaps you can turn to your parents for financial support while you’re in a pickle? I know they won’t be happy, but they’ll get over it. They need to understand you’re unwell, they can’t read your thoughts, you need to reach out. What about unemployment benefits, can you apply for those? How about freelance jobs, are they unavailable? There’re always options and multiple factors. I’ve just thought of a few.
I came from where you are now. I know how these rejections on top of other hardships make you feel undesirable and worthless. Fight those stupid feelings. You’ll pull yourself out of it. I am happy we both live on this planet and I hope you stay here. Hugs!
Hi, i am sorry you have to go through this. It is tough. I want you to know what you are going through is normal. you just need little help and a safe place to release the emotions you have stored in your mind. Once they are released you will be much better position to work again and to create goals in your life and seek the balance you need. First you need to stop saying what is wrong with you. There is nothing wrong with you. A job cant define you. You are much beyond that. Remember no one can make you feel whole, loved and valued if you don't truly love and value yourself. There a lot of therapist who do free counselling online just reach them and talk your heart out and help you with your alcohol addiction too.
You may not realise but you may actually fear being happy. You may be thinking negative thoughts as a means to protect yourself. you just have to stop your negative thinking. Your brain digests whatever thoughts you create. so if it is positive then it will be positive. You need to start feeding positive thoughts about yourself to the brain. Start writing positive affirmations about yourself everyday. What do you feel is good in you or what can you do which is positive? only if you stop the thoughts of negativity like what is wrong with me and change it into positive ones.
Your life is precious so do not give up. You just need to realise that. Remember there are many who have always seen lot of failures in life but have become successful after lot of hardwork. There stories are always remembered in history like Henry ford went bankrupt before starting Ford motor. Thomas Edison tried 1000 of testing before he invented bulb. JK Rowling received 12 rejections before he published Harry potter books. these people did not give up and look they all made a history. So don't give up.
